KOSMOS is dedicated to spreading K-Pop's phenomenal influence of dance as an art form, through our variety of dance covers. Inspired by the concept of the microcosm, or “little universes,” our team aspires to represent diversity by showcasing the endless individuality and unique talents of our members. We want to unite everyone through the art of dancing and K-Pop. Within our organization, we dedicate ourselves to building an inclusive, diverse community of individuals with all types of dance backgrounds, from beginners to more advanced performers. Established in 2019, we strive to function as a family-like group with a variety of different backgrounds that works collectively to uplift the confidence and abilities of its members.

How the Team Works

Auditions are strictly held at the beginning of each semester. Participants are required to send in a video of themselves dancing to a K-pop choreography of their choosing during the audition period window. KOSMOS is primarily cover-based, meaning we focus on uploading dance covers to YouTube, though we sometimes participate in live performances if given the opportunity. Every semester is split into 4 sessions, each lasting 4 weeks. Each session consists of 5 covers which members can choose from. For each video project/cover, there will be a total of 6 practices (2 hours per practice) spread throughout 3 weeks (more practices are added if necessary) and filming will take place during the 4th week. Our goal is to finish filming a set of covers every month so we have consistent uploads throughout the semester. Sign-ups for covers occur through a Google Form, containing a section for participants to rank the covers they’re interested in and a section that contains the practice times for each cover. Additionally, KOSMOS hosts free workshops for members of the community who wish to learn K-pop dances. As an organization, we also participate in the various end-of-the-year showcases held by other organizations on campus. We host socials for our members through our Social Committee. However one of our major bonding events is the various cover shooting events, which take us all over the Bay Area and is a very unique and fun experience. Our goal for our dancers is for all of us to be able to share our collective love for K-pop with each other and others in our community through socials, performances, and dance covers.
