THE [M]OVEMENT

Founded in 1999, the [M]ovement is one of UC Berkeley's premiere dance organizations. We have been bringing together a diverse group of people to perform different styles of dance in three different genres, Swing, Jazz/Contemp, and Open choreography. Our 100+ members form a large, family-oriented community, all of whom share a strong passion for dance. Whether you've been dancing for years or are just getting started, [M]ovement welcomes everyone to join our family.

How the Team Works

For the virtual semester, [M]ovement is hosting a singular non-audition team in which we provide training in all three dance genres and also social events for our members. The goal is to foster a strong and tight-knit community of dancers who enjoy dancing together. The deadline to sign up for the team has already passed this semester, but we are hosting dance workshops every three weeks taught by our alumni that are open to the public.

For an in-person semester, [M]ovement has different set-based teams in each of the three genres every semester. Members must audition to be part of the teams, and the end of the semester will culminate in a final showcase organized by [M]ovement.
